I'll be entering the DEP program within the next month or so, but there were a few questions I was curious on, and the majourity of women on the navy.com boards are wives or gf's *groans* ANYWAY. If anyone would be kind enough to answer some questions, I'd be most appreciative.
1. How long , in the morning, do you get to shower? I read for the guys it's five minutes, are the women under the same restriction?
2. I read somewhere in regards to dress uniform "they wear the same thing". Which had me confused. I thought the womens dress uniform was the white skirt and jacket, whilest the men wear the stereotype sailor outfit, or do women also wear that, or do we get a choice? The whole thing just confused me.
3. I know you go into the pool twice, and women are supposed to bring a black/navy single piece bathing suit for this. If you don't have one, will the Navy, like the mens, provide one, or will you have to buy one on-base? My normal swim suit attire is a bikini and board-shorts (you know, the lovely shorts that go to yer knee) if it was a solid black/navy colour would I be allowed to wear that, or would they say that I'd needs must remove it and be in the standard one-piece?
4. In boot, are you given the option to attend chapel? What are the "un-written" reprecussions if you don't, and what is your alternative if you opt not to go?

I'm sure I'll have more questions, but those were some of the ones that have been bothering me for a bit. Thank you for reading, and for taking the time to answer any of those which you can.

I know that Uniform-wise they where the exact same thing as the guys. :)
I'm pretty sure that they provide swimsuits for the girls also (I could only find like 50 dollar ones and I'm sorry but I am way to cheap to buy that)
I'm pretty sure that attending church is optional.

I'm not positive on the last two but I hope that I helped some. :)

the dress uniform is different. its a jacket and dress pants instead of the traditional uniform that males have to wear. but thats winter dress. for summer dress uniform male and female uniform is pretty much the same

when i was in bootcamp a few years ago, the males got 5-10 minutes but females got about 20 minutes or so. the RDC's realise that females have different than males. and they do compensate for that. be grateful though that you are a female though. being in a mixed division made life alot easier.

church is always optional. there are no repercussions for not going.

and if you dont bring a suit with you, you will be issued one. its pretty basic just a black one piece (which is all they allow as for as i know). you dont get the option of wearing shorts with them for the swim qualification.

hope that helped you some
